March 2019 – October 2020

Through an authentic learning experience. GLP challenges and empowers practitioners towards leadership in education through increased confidence, resilience and resourcefulness.

A GTCS-approved unique CLPL opportunity, GLP has been developed alongside educators to offer an immersive, collaborative and impactful personal and professional development opportunity.

The GLP programme includes a four-week placement in Rwanda or Uganda where Scotland-based practitioners will empower and upskill local educators. There are a number of interventions and events pre and post-departure to fully realise the potential of the opportunity in impacting professional mindset and to network and share best practice with education practitioners from a diverse range of backgrounds from across Scotland.

Meaningful global education is essential for the prosperity of our planet. There has never been a greater need to develop young people’s understanding of their responsibility to actively contribute towards a more equitable and sustainable world.

Nine depute and head teachers have taken part in the programme and it offers development opportunities for those at all career levels and fields of education.

The programme is managed and majority-funded by The Wood Foundation. Applications for the 2019 cohort will be accepted until 11th January 2019.
