Education Scotland Report: Thematic Inspection of Readiness for Empowerment
The Education Scotland report ‘Thematic Inspection: Readiness for Empowerment’, a product of inspector’s visits to all local authorities, was published on 20 December.
While oral feedback was provided to each local authority individually, the published report looks at the Scotland-wide picture only. The report explains what was found, including some positive information about steps local authorities had already taken to start to deliver the empowerment agenda, and makes a series of recommendations designed to progress that agenda.
Those recommendations are targeted at National partners, Local authorities and Headteaches & Schools. These include the need to:
- address staffing shortages which are hampering the capacity for empowerment within schools
- put in place arrangements which ensure greater consistency in HT empowerment in relation to staffing and budgets
