The National Council sets the Association’s general direction, develops policy positions oversees the finances of the Association and sets membership fees.

The strength of National Council is that it is made up of members from all around Scotland. For it to be as strong as possible we need to have representation from as many local authorities as possible.

Each Council member is on one committee. We have four committees:

• Education & Schools
• Salaries & Conditions of Service
• Membership
• Training and Events

These committees are the engine room of National Council. Committees investigate issues and develop draft position statements for consideration by full Council.
